Where are you based?
We are close the village of Ballachulish which is about 100 miles from
Glasgow and 120 miles from Edinburgh. The nearest small towns are Oban
(30 miles) and Fort William (15 miles).
How do I get there?
You can reach us by car from Glasgow or Edinburgh (2 hours) or by coach
(2-3 hours). For bus times call Scottish Citylink on 08705 50 50 50.
There are 4 buses a day to and from Glasgow.
What facilities are there
locally?
Ballachulish is a small village (population 1000) in a stunning scenic
location. There is one shop and one pub with 2/3 other pubs within 2
miles. The village has a bank 2 days a week, a post office and a doctor.
What facilities are there
nearby?
Fort William and Oban are small towns with supermarkets and good shops
and other facilities. Both are about 40 minutes journey by coach and
there are several coaches a day to these towns. There is a limited evening
service to Fort William.
Where will I stay?
If you have chosen to live-in with us you will be allocated a private
room with shared facilities (unless you have agreed to share with a
colleague). Our staff accommodation is simply furnished and you will
have access to a common sitting area. Many staff bring their own home-entertainment
system for their rooms. Payphones are provided in staff accommodation.
Staff meals are served at the Hotel at fixed times. Access to coin operated
laundry facilities is provided.
What uniform will I wear?
You will be provided with all or part of a uniform depending on the
department you are working in. We take a deposit for all front-of-house
uniforms which is returned when the uniform is handed back in fair condition.
If you are taking up a restaurant, bar or reception position you should
bring with you formal knee length black skirt/trousers; white blouse/shirt;
formal black low heel/lace-up shoes.
When will I be paid?
We operate a monthly payroll with payments to your bank account on the
27th of the month. If you do not have a bank account you will be required
to open one. If you start work for us after the middle of the month
you will not be paid until the end of the following month.
